Work Update

Sadly, our patient census isn't growing as much as we need to keep all of our staff full time, so our boss asked us to reduce our hours, so for the first time in my adult life, I don't have to work a 40 hour work week. Thanks for my wonderful husband, I'm able work part time.

Snow Day

For the first time in many years it snowed here. Of course, they cancelled school and work, so we are excited to have an unplanned day off.

Christmas 2008

Here are a few pictures of our house decorated for Christmas. Ashleigh & Geoffrey came in to decorate the tree, then Austin & I did the rest of the inside. Maurice & Austin hung the oustide lights this year. Poor Austin, he was worn out by the end of the decorating

Today, I took Austin to the doctor for a check up, altough he checked out GREAT, he had to get 4 immunizations, meningitis, tetanus, hepatitis and varicella (chicken pox) they also wanted to give him a flu shot, but he said, heck no. No worries, his treat was some chicken strips from KFC

But don't worry, I think he'll be OK

I finally got a new vehicle

After driving "fuzzy" for over a year, I finally got a new vechile. No worries, Maurice will drive Fuzz until he dies (which may be never)

Oh Happy Day!!!

It's my favorite time of year, the new fall shows start. One of my favorites, started tonight.

Mama San Laundry Service

I've had to use this wonderful service while my washer was broken. I just drop our laundry off at 7:30 am, she washes, folds and delivers it back home by noon. She will also take care of you if you get sick or just get hungry, she's a GREAT cook.

ICKY !!!!!!

Our washing machine has been broken for about 2 weeks. It took that long for the repairman to come out and it took him all of 5 minutes to fix it. This was the culprit, stuck in our "drain trap". I watched him fix it so next time, we won't have to bring our laundry to the MamaSan Laundry service.

Today Austin bought a new video game called RockStar. It has a drum, guitar & microphone. We had lots of fun at our concert. Here we have Austin, Geoffrey & Ashleigh in the band

Thankful Thursday

Maurice got into a wreck today, I am not thankful for that, but am very thankful that neither he or the other driver were injured. The other guy pulled out in front of him and when he hit, them impact threw the van into the open area across the street. He was very close to a large tree when he landed, if he had been about 18 inches to the right, he would have hit the tree.

A hunting I will go...........

I have finally decided it's time to look for a new job. It's been almost 4 months since they announced our office would be sold, and we know the end is near. I have sent out 3 resumes so far, went on 2 interviews and was offered 1 job, that I turned down. I am hoping to go into the final phase of the interview I had today next week. It's at the Baton Rouge General, where I started my career 20 years ago. Who knows where I'll end up, I'm still trying to decide what I want to do when I grow up. Of course, my ultimate goal is waiting for Ed McMahon to knock on my door.

Rainy Week-end

We had a rainy week-end here in Denham Springs. Our plans for a tubing excursion yesterday were postponed due to a rainy forecast. This left lots of time for relaxing and reading for me. I am reading a new author, Sally John. She is a christian author that has several different series. I finished book one of The Beach House series today so now, I'm starting book 2. It's quick reading with a great story line.

Happy Brithday Jeremy

It's hard to beleive that Jeremy is 24 today. When we talked to him yesterday he was plannning to going to a friends camp and go boat riding. Happy Birthday Jeremy.

Thankful Thursday

I am thankful that for the last 3 days, Austin has called me at work asking me to take him on a date next Friday, not just drop him off date, but actually go with him. As the mother of a 13 year old son, that doesn't happen often. So finally today, I said yes and we ordered our 2nd row tickets for our special night. I'm just not so thankful that it's to the circus. Oh well, you have to take a date from a hot guy when you can get it :)

Fathers Day

As all of you know, we have the BEST father's in this family. We are all so blessed to have so many. Of course there is our patriarch, Papaw, we also have Maurice, Buddy, Andy, Tom, Mark, Kevin, Jacob & Jake (I do hope I haven't forgotten anyone) To these men, HAPPY FATHERS DAY!!!! We love you all.

Starting Back

We'll as most of you know, we had been doing really well on our weight loss journey since January 1, 2008, then came.........surgery day and from then on out, well, you know we had Mamaw cooking for us and I wasn't able to walk or exercise like I was. Even though I didn't gain any (luckily, my appetite wasn't good) our weight loss came to a screeching halt. So today, I started counting weight watcher points and my walking routine and I'm hear to tell you, my legs are sore :). I'm looking forward to weighing in next week to see if it's doing any good.

Thankful Thursday on Friday

Today I am thankful that Ashleigh has moved back home for the summer, even though we probably won't see much of her, we are glad she's back for a few months!!

Happy Mother's Day

What a great Mother's Day, Maurice made Mamaw & I had crawfish omelets for breakfast, then we had a nice crowd of us here for BBQ chicken for lunch. Katie & Emily were here, Em is such a cutie pie. Ashleigh, Austin & Jeanette came for dinner. Once we ate, we were excited to announce that we are getting married. After 13 years, we are finally ready :)

Good Book

When I was in the hospital, one of the nice ladies that took care of me told me about a book, The Secret Life of Bees, Mamaw & Ashleigh were nice enough to go the the library and check it out for me. It was indeed a very good book, very fast reading

Thankful Thursday

Today, I am Thankful that I had a good report on my two week check-up. I have been released to drive, do light housework and light exercise.

Recouperating @ home

well, it's my 3rd day at home and I'm doing fine. I had a rough night last night, but am feeling better today, just very dizzy and tired. I've been a very good patient today, just laying on the couch watching TV.

Thankful Thursday....... 2 hours early

Since I'm not so good with my Thankful Thursday, I'm doing mine early.

I am thankful that I have my pre-op appointment Thursday afternoon, it's hard to believe it's almost here. I am so tired of feeling bad all the time.

I'm also thankful that I'm having lots of "last" meals before my surgery. I'm going to lunch with some friends, then out to dinner with some co-workers Thursday, then Friday night we'll go to dinner............. then Saturday I start on my "light" diet and Sunday it becomes "clear liquids" and Monday, well, you just don't want to know :(.

Football Update

Today was the first day of football try-outs at Southside Jr. High. Austin said there were 92 boys there and they will pick 47 for the team. I sure hope he makes it.

SAD news

Today we got the announcement that Odyssey HealthCare has decided to devest in the Baton Rouge market, which means, they are selling our office. They haven't given us a date, but we all know the end is near :(. We are hoping that whoever buys us will keep the employees and offer a comparative salary and benefit plan, but only time will tell. It's a sad day for my work family.

Maurice has lost 38 pounds since January 1st. He looks so good, I am very proud of him.

Fabulous Friday

The ticker says it all............ after really working at it this week, I lost 3 more lbs. I down 15 lbs since the first of the year :) GO ME!!!!

Thankful Thursday

WOW, these come too quickly.
1. I am thankful that the spring break is here, no school for 10 days. I know I don't go to school, but it's so much more relaxed when we don't have to get Austin up early. He has to catch the bus at 6:45am, which is very early for both him and his mother. Ashleigh is out too, so maybe we might see her some too. Of course, she breezed in and out this afternoon, so I'm not too sure about how much she'll be here.

2 I am thankful that it is Easter week-end, that we have the freedom to worship God and for the wonderful country we live in.

Thankful Thursday

Today I am thankful that the St. Patrick's Day parade is Saturday, we always have a good time and this year, Ashleigh is walking with us. I am also thankful that Maurice made it home from his work travels safely.

Just waiting............... 19 years later

I absolutely can not believe this time 19 years ago that I was in the hospital, "not having a baby this week-end", according to what the doctor said, but Old Granny KNEW it the entire 9 months. What I really can't believe is that Ashleigh is 19 !!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW, the time really did got by FAST, so to my nieces.... be very careful what you wish for, the first words, first steps, etc, you will also be thinking this 19 years later. WHERE DID THE TIME GO !!!! It makes me very sad when I think about how fast she grew, but I am EXTREMELY proud of her. What a beautiful young lady she has become.

Thankful Thursday

Today I am thankful for my usual, family, job, etc. But I'll dedicate this Thursday to Grover. He's just a goofy dog, but he is always excited to see me when I come home from work and he keeps my feet warm at night when I sleep. Of course this isn't his picture, he's way to cool to wear a goofy sweater and just a little fatter, you know we've been dieting in this house. Love you all.
